How to License my artwork!
-
Licensing allows you to legally use artwork for your business while the artist retains ownership and copyright of the design. Rather than purchasing the artwork itself, you are purchasing the rights to use it according to the terms of your license agreement.
-
Premade artwork and patterns are available through a 12-month, non-exclusive license. This allows you to use the design on products, packaging, websites, social media, and other business materials during the active license period. Because the license is non-exclusive, the artwork may also be licensed to other businesses.
-
Custom artwork and patterns are created specifically for your brand and include a complimentary 12-month exclusive commercial license. During this exclusivity period, the artwork will not be licensed, sold, or made available to any other business. At the end of the 12-month term, you will have the option to renew your exclusive license, transition to a standard non-exclusive license, or discuss extended licensing options based on your needs.
-
A 12-month license term grants permission to use the artwork for one year from the date of purchase. At the end of the term, you may choose to renew your license to continue using the design. If the license is not renewed, new production and use of the artwork must cease, though existing inventory may be sold through a reasonable sell-through period.
-
Yes. Exclusive licensing may be available for select premade or custom designs for an additional fee. Exclusive licenses prevent the artwork from being licensed to other businesses for 12 month terms. Additional time may be added.
-
No. Artwork files may not be resold, redistributed, shared, sublicensed, or claimed as your own. The license grants permission to use the artwork within your business but does not transfer copyright ownership of the design itself.
